Hello and welcome to my website!
My name is Mark Hodson, I am an integrative therapist, which means that I can blend several counselling theories together. This allows me to gain an in depth understanding of and respond to most issues in a unique and balanced way.
As a registered member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) I work in a way that complies with the current BACP Ethical Framework for Counselling Professions.
Having worked for several years in voluntary and employed counselling roles. I recognised the value of offering counselling online and how this could allow people the flexibility to access therapy in an increasingly busy world. My experience also shows that working online does not mean a negative impact upon the therapeutic relationship. It is possible to create and maintain this essential element of therapy when working online. This increases the potential for the client to reach their desired result.
Why is the therapeutic relationship so important? Without the trust that can exist between a therapist and client, the work suffers and the client does not get the result that they are searching for.
My current qualifications are:
Introductory Certificate in Counselling - Level 3 - 2013
Foundation Degree in Integrative Counselling - Level 4 & 5 - 2018
Currently Studying: BA Top Up Counselling Studies - Level 6
All of the above were/are being studied at Newman University, Birmingham.
Relevant Professional Development Courses have included:
Certified Cyber Therapist Course certified by The Online Therapy Institute
BACP Professional Development Day: Therapeutically Working with Domestic Abuse: exploring relationship dynamics and safely managing risk.
I'm a registered member of BACP and my register number is: 375452
Registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)
Current Professional Indemnity Insurance
Current Enhanced Disclosure and Barring (DBS) Check.
I'm currently working full time in the charitable sector, counselling busy professionals. My other counselling experience has been voluntary in nature and has included wide range of clinical and community based settings.
I actively pursue opportunities to continue my professional development and to ensure that I stay current with latest research and findings.
My focus is to help individuals heal, energise and become aware of their inner strengths. I believe this can be achieved by providing a neutral safe therapeutic space for you to to talk through your concerns, process your feelings and with support, work towards the outcome that you seek.
